In this concise book, Mary Baker Eddy establishes the foundation, government, services, and activities of her Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and provides the guidelines for self-government of individual church members. In referring to the Manual, Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Of this I am sure, that each Rule and By-law in this Manual will increase the spirituality of him who obeys it, invigorate his capacity to heal the sick, to comfort such as mourn, and to awaken the sinner." (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 23010).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910) was an influential American author, teacher, and religious leader. She is noted for her groundbreaking ideas about spirituality and healing, which she based on the Bible, particularly Christ Jesus' words and works. This system of healing, which she denominated Christian Science, puts into action all that she learned from her Bible study. Her ideas are fully articulated in her major work, the best-seller Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, first published in 1875. In 1879, she founded the Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, which today has branch churches and societies around the world. She established her church "to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing." In 1908 she launched The Christian Science Monitor, a leading international newspaper, the recipient, to date, of seven Pulitzer Prizes. At her passing, hundreds of tributes appeared in newspapers around the world, including The Boston Globe, which wrote, "She did a wonderfulan extraordinary work in the world and there is no doubt that she was a powerful influence for good."

This is a great book to read if you are interested in working for The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
I purchased this book looking into religions and where I want my family to attend. This tells you lots of info, I choose to not attend this church, seems more cult like.
If you are studying CS, this edition is not in the original format for page and line citations. Otherwise, the content is the same.

When I first began to investigate Christian Science I encountered the Manual of The Mother Church on the library shelves. I was astonished that such a slim volume could regulate such a large organization! The wisdom of the volume still takes my breath away!
